Girls Count is a national coalition of over 400 civil organizations across India. Members and the Secretariat collaborate to address gender-based discrimination, focusing particularly on the Declining Child Sex Ratio (DCSR). The coalition aims to influence policy, amplify advocacy, and establish accountability through dialogue, capacity development, community action support, and evidence generation. The coalition’s evolution began in early 2012, with its official founding in 2013.

Girls Count: Empowering and Protecting Girls
Girls Count is dedicated to ending sex selection and promoting gender equality. We raise awareness through community outreach and media campaigns, challenging gender biases. Our legal advocacy strengthens protections against sex selection, and we provide support to victims of discrimination. We empower girls through vocational training and entrepreneurship programs. Additionally, we focus on maternal and child health, ensuring access to essential services. By collaborating with partners, we aim to create a society where every girl is valued and protected.
