Girls Count recognises the significance of enhancing the value of women and girls, which is why, the coalition invests in and supports Non-Traditional Livelihoods (NTL) for women and girls across the country. We have been promoting non-traditional livelihood in a belief that one of the fundamental pillars of patriarchy is gender-based roles and occupations that need to be challenged. With this, we aim to achieve our long-term goal, which is to address son preference and daughter unwantedness.

Promoting NTL to Break Stereotype

The coalition has introduced an ecosystem that offers accessible, aspirational, and sustainable non-traditional livelihood opportunities for women and girls. Girls Count has embraced a non-traditional livelihoods program specifically designed for women and girls that aims to challenge the gendered perceptions of skills, work, and occupations. Through this program, Girls Count is also confronting the patriarchal mindset that views girls as economic burdens, which often leads to daughter unwantedness.
